Watch: Place-based learning for climate action skills

In January, we hosted a sharing session exploring the benefits and relevance of of place-based learning in a changing world.

Place-based learning is a pedagogical approach that takes place in a real-world environment, encouraging learners to engage in meaningful, collaborative projects. It complements traditional classroom learning by providing hands-on experiences and opportunities to develop skills.

Our panelists provide examples of how place-based learning create the conditions for active investigation and direct access to knowledge and skills and why it’s especially important in addressing sustainability challenges like climate change.

Hear stories and insights from our panelists:

  • Ilaria Mezzogori, The Felix Project – a surplus food charity based in London;
  • Simon Roper, Ambios – A nature conservation training organisation in Devon;
  • Zoe McIntyre, Hackney School of Food – A ‘seed to spoon’ cooking school in Hackney;
  • Fraser Harper, The Green Edge – a green economy and skills newsletter and podcast producer.
