A Community of Practice to support climate learning innovation

As part of our work on LEVERS, a Horizon Europe collaborative research project, we have convened a diverse group of individuals working in multiple sectors related to sustainability, climate action and SDG 12 (responsible consumption and production).

What we do

The Community of Practice includes 13 members from industry, learning organisations, local government, research & innovation and advocacy organisations. Together we explore place-based learning – learning which is live, real and active – and its role in driving transformative change. Our focus is to increase the effectiveness of individual projects through collective problem solving.

This group meets bi-monthly and for 18 months. By sharing knowledge, tools and experiences we aim to accelerate the adoption of new practices in the wider community by demonstrating effective models and replicating them. A Researcher in Residence, Gabrielle Edwards is supporting the community of practice and our advocacy work.

Our interests

As we learn more about each other and our goals, we explore topics of collective interest. Currently we’re focused on:

  • Understanding green/sustainable competencies across sectors
  • Connecting different levels of actors working in sustainability (from grassroots movements up to national policy)
  • Framing SDG 12 through the lens of place-based learning
  • Learning from other sectors (ways of working, learning styles, learning platforms/tools)
  • Scaling impact in non-traditional ways.

What’s on

Next on the agenda over the summer are climate action insights with UCL Climate Action Unit Director Kris de Meyer and a live workshop on Systems Change and Theory of Change at The Felix Project.
